TVN Discovery Invests in Polish Productions

    WARSAW: The private broadcaster TVN will produce or coproduce five new films and a mini-series, as part of the stations efforts to support and develop locally made content.

    "TVN has a lasting love for feature films. Our new projects, produced or coproduced by TVN Discovery, include The Coldest Game, Broad Peak, All the Luck / Całe szczęście, Hater. Suicide room and Love is Everything / Miłość jest wszystkim. Kinga Dębska is working on our new drama mini-series about transplants, entitled Six. TVN's love for Polish actors, creators, directors and Polish script is a permanent and invariable thing." Piotr Korycki, the President of TVN Discovery, told FNE.
    The Coldest Game, directed by Łukasz Kośmicki and starring Bll Pullman, is an international coproduction set in 1962, about a chess genius who is forced by the CIA to challenge the Russian master to a chess match during an international tournament taking place at the Warsaw Palace Of Culture and Science. The film is produced by Watchout Studio in coproduction with TVN S.A, Next Film, ITI Neovision S.A., Big City Outdoor, The Story Lab, Poręczenia Kredytowe, Kosafilm and Galeria Olśnienia - GO Justyna Chodkowska.

    All the Luck / Całe szczęście, directed by box office hit maker Tomasz Konecki (Letters To Santa 3, TVN), is a romantic comedy starring Piotr Adamczyk and Roma Gąsiorowska, about an unlikely romance between a fitness guru and a single dad who is a classical musician. The script is written by Marcin Baczyński and Mariusz Kuczewski. TVN is producing. The final budget has not been announced yet. The film will be released in Poland on 8 March 2019 distributed by Next Film.

    Broad Peak directed by Leszek Dawid follows the real story of Polish mountaineer Maciej Berbeka. The title refers to one of the most dangerous mountain peaks in the world, in the Karakorum mountain range. Following a spectacular ascent in 2013, Berbeka reached the summit and became the first man in the world to do so during wintertime. Unfortunately, he died upon descending. The film is currently in production, the shoot launched in the spring of 2018 and will continue till the end of the year and in 2019 on location in Zakopane, the Himalayas and the Alps. The film is produced by Maciej Rzączyński, Krzysztof Rzączyński and Dawid Janicki through East Studio in coproduction with TVN and Canal+, with a budget of 2.5 m EUR. The film will be released in 2020 distributed by Kino Świat.

    Hater. Suicide Room is a sequel to Jan Komasa's box office hit drama Suicide Room (2011, KADR Film Studio). The film is in pre-production, planned as a cyber-thriller mixed with a futuristic romance, where love quickly transforms into hate, starring Maciej Musiałowski and Vanessa Aleksander. The film is produced by TVN. The release date and production details have not been announced yet.

    Love is Everything / Miłość jest wszystkim directed by Michał Kwieciński is set in December, during the Christmas preparation time. Once a mysterious Santa appears in the city, the lives of the protagonists take a crazy turn. The film is a coproduction between Akson Studio and TVN. The all-star cast includes Olaf Lubaszenko, Agnieszka Grochowska, Jan Englert, Eryk Lubos, Joanna Kulig, Mateusz Damięcki and Maciej Musiał. The film was shot in the fall of 2017 and will be released in Poland on 23 November 2018 distributed by Kino Świat.

    The Six mini-series, directed by Kinga Dębska, will follow 6 stories of organ donors. TVN is producing and the shoot launched on 25 September in Krakow. The show is set to premiere in 2019, with futher details yet to be released.
