European Commission Launch Crowdsourcing Subtitling Preparatory Action

By

BRUXELLES: European Commission is launching a 1 m EUR hunt to find out how crowdsourcing or other innovative solutions can reduce the costs of obtaining subtitles and increase the exposure of European films in video on demand services available in the EU. The deadline is 25 September 2015 for projects to run in 2016.

The Preparatory Action "Crowdsourcing subtitling to increase the circulation of European works" aims to test the impact of any innovative solution e.g. crowdsourcing on both the cost of obtaining subtitles and the exposure of European films in video on demand (VOD) services available in the European Union.

The results of the experimentation will be shared with stakeholders and policy makers notably through the organisation of a public workshop. Potential applicants may refer to projects dealing with languages and technologies having been supported by the Commission.
