Aurora Wins Romanian Critics Prize

    {mosimage}BUCHAREST: Cristi Puiu's Aurora was voted the best Romanian film in 2011, followed by Anca Damian's Crulic - The Path to Beyond/Crulic - Drumul spre dincolo and Adrian Sitaru Best Intentions/Din dragoste, cu cele mai bune intenţii.

    Organised by Asociaţia Film România, this pole includes all the Romanian film press, while the prizes of the Critics Association within the Filmmakers Union are decided by a jury of representatives.

    With 80 votes cast, Puiu was named best director, followed by Damian and Sitaru.

    Ana Ularu (Periferic) won best actress, followed by Ada Condeescu (Loverboy) and Nataşa Raab (Best Intentions/Din dragoste, cu cele mai bune intenţii). The best actor in 2011 was Bogdan Dumitrache (Best Intentions/Din dragoste, cu cele mai bune intenţii) followed by Vlad Ivanov (Principles of Life/Principii de viaţă) and Cristi Puiu (Aurora).

    Melancholia was voted the best European film screened in the local cinemas in 2011, followed by The King's Speech and Another Year. Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive was voted the best film in the Romanian cinemas in 2011.
