PRODUCTION: Sharon Stone, Andy Garcia to Shoot in Romania

    BUCHAREST: Klaus Menzel's independent medium budget feature What About Love starring Sharon Stone and Andy Garcia is scheduled to begin filming in Romania on 5 August 2012.


    The production will spend six weeks shooting the bulk of the film in Romania, before moving to Spain on 25 September. Most of the shoot will take place at Castel Film Studios (www.castelfilm.ro), the local company providing with services, but the crew will also shoot on location, including in the Carpathian mountains.

    This is Sharon Stone's first film in Romania. Andy Garcia was previously in Romania working on Modigliani (2004), directed by Mick Davis. The cast includes Marielle Jaffe, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Ukrainian star Kamaliya, and Spanish actor José Coronado. The DOP's are Ray Peschke and Sebastian Meuschel.

    The story, written by Menzel, concerns an American senator (Garcia) and his wife (Stone) who rediscover love through images that their daughter shot during her tragic trip with her lover from Spain to Eastern Europe.

    The film is produced by Menzel through his independent American company Accident Films, Inc. in co-production with the Spanish company Gondola Film (www.gondolafilms.com). The premiere is set for 2013.
