Romanian Cinema in Cannes 2014

    Meet the representatives of the Romanian Film Center at the Romanian Pavilion nr 220 in the Village Pantiero

    Director Radu Jude returns to Cannes with his short film It Can Pass through the Wall, which was selected in the "Quinzaine des Réalisateurs" sidebar. The film is a 100% independent production, made by Micro Film in co-production with Mitra Film and Cinelabs Romania, with Radu Jude and Ada Solomon as producers.

    Cristi Puiu is one of the directors involved in the Les ponts of Sarajevo / Bridges of Sarajevo a project consisting of 13 short films, coordinated by Jean-Michel Frodon and included in the "Les séances spéciales" sidebar. The project was made as part of the events marking the centennial commemoration of the beginning of the First World War. The same section also hosts the presentation of the documentary Caricaturistes, fantassins of democracy, directed by Stéphanie Valloatto, and co-written and produced by Radu Mihăileanu.

    In addition, Romania competes for the Palme d' Or against nine other short films with A Kivegzes / The Execution, directed by Petra Szöcs, a Hungarian-Romanian co-production.
