BRATISLAVA: A new showcase for domestic production, the Slovak Film Week, is being launched by the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA). This year it will be held from 13 to 19 April.

There will be 22 features for the first edition of Slovak Film Week, all made in 2014, featuring the omnibus title Slovakia 2.0, produced by MPhilms, Miloslav Luther's A Step Into the Dark, produced by Trigon Productions and Slovak Radio and TV , and Czech-Slovak coproduction, Zdeněk Jiráský's In Silence, produced by Furia Film. “The Slovak Film Week was born with the intention to fill a blank space among the other events and to organise a showcase that will map film production in Slovakia on an annual basis,” explains SFTA president Marek Leščák.

Starting from 2016, the organisers will merge the Slovak Film Week with The Sun in a Net, the annual national film award ceremony.
