The Slovak feature film Small Celebrations (Male oslavy, www.maleoslavy.sk) premiered in Slovakia premiere on November 13, after premiering in the Eurimages competition in Sevilla earlier this week.

It was directed by Czech director Zdenek Tyc. "I liked his previos film Brats, so I offered him the script to read. He replied immediately. What he found interesting was the way the female characters were described," Alef Film and Media Group (www.afm.sk) producer Marian Urban told FNE.

The budget of Small Celebrations was one million euros. "The Slovak side covered 51.40%, that means 512,000 euros," said Urban. That includes a grant from the Slovak Ministry of Culture for 38,000 euros.509. "The Czech side paid 38.60%, 385,000 euros, and the Italian side covered 10%, 99,000 euros," said Urban. Small Celebrations was also supported by Eurimages with 180,000 euros.

The development of the script was finished in the year 2006. Principal photography took place during summer and fall of 2007, and the film was completed in spring 2008..

The producers plan to present Small Celebrations at Cannes and Berlin. Urban confirmed that there are ongoing negotiations to distribute the film in Italy and Spain.
