dok.incubator calls for Czech and Slovak documentaries

The intensive rough cut workshop dok.incubator opens applications for its regional programs and calls for Czech and Slovak filmmakers. Submit your film until February 14 and work with international tutors on editing and dramaturgy and discuss your distribution strategy with festival and sales representatives!

dok.incubator is open to teams of three – editor, director and producer – to participate in a seven-month long program which is organized partly as a residential event and partly online. Every year, international tutors select four Czech and four Slovak projects which get an opportunity to gain a new perspective on their film and to maximize its international potential. Documentaries with Czech or Slovak coproductions are also welcome to join the program.

    Where do the films go?

The results and festival journeys of films which took part in Czech and Slovak workshops show that the program works. In 2023 the Czech-German-Swedish documentary BLIX NOT BOMBS by Greta Stocklassa premiered at CPH:DOX, was screened at HotDocs and recently received a nomination for the Czech Lion Awards. Another big international premiere awaited for Pongo Calling at Sheffield DocFest, the film then continued to Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival or One World festival. Besides that, the program of Ji.hlava IDFF included premieres of The World According to My Dad by Marta Kovářová and La Reine by Nikola Klinger, both awarded by the student jury. Among other successful films from 2023 there is A Happy Man directed by Soňa G. Lutherová which premiered at HotDocs, was screened at One World festival and received an award at International Film Festival Cinematik.
