BUDAPEST: Son of Saul, the debut feature of the Hungarian László Nemes, and Deniz Gamze Ergüven's Mustang, were nominated in the Foreign Language category for the 88th edition of the Oscars. The announcement was made on 14 January 2016.

ZAGREB: Admissions to domestic films dropped from 124,453 in 2014 to approximately 92,000 in 2015. The Croatian hit in 2015, The High Sun by Dalibor Matanić, had 42,815 admissions compared to the 2014 hit, Love and Death by Daniel Kušan which sold 39,849 tickets.

BRATISLAVA: Art Film Fest, the oldest film festival in Slovakia, will hold its 24th edition in the city of Košice from 17-25 June 2016.

BUCHAREST: Pro TV acquired the production and broadcasting license of the famous format Survivor. The Romanian TV channel also started the selection for the reality show, which will be broadcast as Supraviețuitorul.

TALLINN: Riho Unt’s short animated film The Master / Isand received the Neitsi Maali/Virgin Maali Award for Best Estonian Film in 2015.

PRAGUE: Xavier Giannoli ‘s period drama Marguerite, which was shot entirely in the Czech Republic, will be released by Picturehouse Entertainment in the UK on 18 March 2016. The film is a coproduction between France, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
