KRAKOW: The acclaimed Estonian animated filmmaker Priit Pärn will be honoured with the Dragon of Dragons award for his entire creative output at the 55th Krakow Film Festival.

BRATISLAVA: A new showcase for domestic production, the Slovak Film Week, is being launched by the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA). This year it will be held from 13 to 19 April.

NICOSIA: Tetraktys Films is the only sales agent from Cyprus at MIPTV Cannes and will be hosted by Creative Europe Media. It will be at umbrella Stand P4.B1 from 13 to 16 April 2015.

Organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) and sponsored for the 11th time by AKBANK, the much anticipated Istanbul Film Festival’s 34th edition kicked off with an opening ceremony on Friday night, 3 April. The opening ceremony brought the stars and distinguished figures of the Turkish cinema together at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center.

NICOSIA: German features dominate the international competition at the Cyprus Film Days this year - 5 out of 10 of the films shown are German productions or coproductions. The festival will be running from 17 to 26 April 2015.

On Thursday evening, “Kino Pavasaris” invited guests to attend the celebratory closing ceremony of the festival at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic. The 20th Vilnius IFF “Kino Pavasaris” invited creators participating in the competition programmes “Baltic Gaze” and “New Europe – New Names” to talk about their films and the creative process. The informal event took place at the Vilnius bar “Floor” and drew a crowd of cinema enthusiasts.

PRAGUE: On Monday, April 6, an exceptional documentary Cain's Children will be screened in Cinema Světozor in Prague. In a visually captivating manner, the Hungarian director Marcell Gerő tells the stories of three people, who were sentenced to long-term inprisonment for murder in the communist era and who are now trying to cope with their crimes and to make sense of free society.
