FESTIVALS: Mellow Mud Wins Best Fiction Film Award at Latvian National Film Festival

    RIGA: Mellow Mud by Renārs Vimba was awarded best fiction film at the National Film Festival Lielais Kristaps. The film was also awarded for best script and best actress.

    Dawn by Laila PakalninaDawn by Laila Pakalniņa received seven awards for best fiction film director, best cinematographer, best actress in a supporting role, best actor in a supporting role, best costume designer, best makeup, best composer.

    Best documentary award went to Under the Sun by Vitaly Mansky. The film received three other awards including best documentary director.

    All the films in the National Film Festival Lielais Kristaps were nominated in 23 categories by seven Latvian film industry professionals. The awards were decided by an international jury.

    The festival took place from 6 to 12 October 2016.
