PRODUCTION: Raw and Cooked in Development

By FNE Staff

BUCHAREST: Gabriel Achim (Adalbert's Dream/Visul lui Adalbert) is developing Raw and Cooked, a political black comedy fantasy about the last days of Nicolae Ceauşescu.

The story takes place on 22 December 1989, when an engineer decides to save Ceauşescu and his wife from the lynch mob and to help them cross the border.

"Looking back more than 25 years later, I might sum up that period as follows: How bad we could be when we were being good! In my childhood I would think of how I could kill Ceauşescu, and now I would like to find the best way not to kill him," Achim told FNE. He co-wrote Crud şi gătit/ Raw and Cooked with Cosmin Manolache.

Achim is producing through his company Green Film (www.greenfilm.ro). Guillaume de Seille is co-producing with the French company Arizona Films (http://www.arizonafilms.net/doomanpress.html). Dan Burlac will be delegate producer. Another co-producer and sales agent are expected. Some 300,000 euro from the budget of 1,5 million Euro is covered by Green Film through equipment, and script and directing rights. The project will participate at Sofia Meetings 2012 (http://siff.bg/sofiameetings).

Shooting is planned for January-February 2013 in Romania and in French Guiana. The premiere is set for 2014.
