The main character of Grandma/Mamaia is played by Stela Popescu (Everybody in Our Family/Toată lumea din familia noastră), one of the most popular Romanian comedians. Collin Blair wrote the script based on an idea of Bogdan Mirică. Viorel Sergovici is the DOP. The plot follows an old lady, Matilda, fighting a ferocious real estate agent (Valentin Teodosiu) who tries to appropriate her attic loft. The old lady is helped by a young woman (Mădălina Anea), some old friends and a bunch of luck.
The film is produced by MediaPro Pictures independently from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro). Shooting will take place entirely in Bucharest and is due to wrap in three and a half weeks, with the premiere set for the first half of 2013, representatives of MediaPro Pictures told FNE.
