Fool Moon production studio (Slovakia) - in cooperation with RTVS (Radio & Television Slovakia – public broadcaster) and MAUR film studio (Czech Republic) - has created Mimi & Lisa: Christmas Lights Mystery - a 26-minute animated film.  This new fairy-tale addition to the popular Mimi & Lisa series will premiere on 21 November in France, a day later at Slovak cinemas, on 6 December in the Czech Republic as part of a Mimi & Lisa Christmas special, and on RTVS during the festive season. Slovart Publishing Ltd has also published the fairy-tale as an attractive book in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

BELGRADE: In its second week in release Miloš Avramović’s feature South Wind / Južni vetar held on to the number one spot at the Serbian box office, taking in 964,000 USD since its 25 October 2018 opening. A second Serbian film, Slodier’s Lullaby / Zaspanka za vojnike directed by Predrag Antonijevic, debuted in the number three spot, taking in 69,300 USD.

RIGA: Inara Kolmane’s family film Bille, a Latvian/Lithuanian/Czech coproduction, won the Best Film award at the 30th Lielais Kristaps Latvian national film awards on 12 November 2018.

VIENNA: The Austrian cinema chain Cineplexx will build eight cinemas with 50 screening salles in Romania.

For the seventh time, Music Meets Film returns alongside Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event at Tallinn Black Night Film Festival. A programme of talks, masterclasses, tours and screenings dedicated to film scoring will run from November 23–25.

The European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN) is organizing, for the second time, the European Film Location Award, for best European location in the film and TV industries. Among the candidates this year is one Croatian location – Vis Island, where the hit film Mamma Mia Here We Go Again! was shot.

The animated-documentary film Chris the Swiss, directed by Anja Kofmel, a Swiss-Croatian-German-Finnish co-production (Croatian co-producer – Siniša Juričić, Nukleus Film) is nominated for a European animation award in four categories. The awards ceremony will be held on December 8th in Lille, France.

SEVILLE: Cold War by Pawel Pawlikowski received five nominations for the European Film Academy 2018 awards, in the categories for European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Scriptwriter.
