FNE at Cannes 2024: Estonian Sauna Day by Anna Hints and Tushar Prakash Selected for Cannes’ Critics’ Week

TALLINN: Anna Hints and Tushar Prakash's short fiction film Sauna Day / Sannapäiv will have its world premiere in the Special Screenings – Short Films section of the 63rd Critics’ Week (Semaine de la Critique), which will be held 15 – 23 May 2024 within the Cannes Film Festival (14 – 25 May 2024).

Sauna Day is exploring the intimate space of sauna for Southern Estonian men. It is also a new collaboration between the Estonian director Anna Hints and the Indian director Tushar Prakash, after their 28-minute documentary Estonian Man / Eesti Mees (2023).

Agur Seim and Rasmus Kaljujärv play the leading roles, with supporting roles by Olev Pant, Karep Rutov, Tarmo Lõiv, Priit Bulin, Marianne Kütt, Marin Mägi-Efert, Kaja Solom and Liina Prii.

Sauna Day was produced by Johanna Maria Paulson and Evelin Penttilä through Stellar with support from the Estonian Film Institute, the Estonian Cultural Endowment, the Tartu Film Fund and Creative Europe MEDIA.
