US Cobbler Films in Lithuania

    VILNIUS: The American film and TV production company Kaleidoscope Pictures is shooting the television film The Cobbler/Batsiuvys based on a story by Leo Tolstoy in Vilnius, Lithuania.

    The central character is the old shoemaker named Martin Avdeitch who is bitter with the world from the loss of his wife. He lives in a rural Russian village of XIX century. One night he dreams about an important message from the Lord, and sees His hand at work the next day. It changes his life as well as others he comes into contact with in a very inspiring way.

    The Cobbler is directed by Adam Anderegg and written by Joseph Clay. The producer is Russ Kendall. The cast includes John Rhys Davies, Valentinas Novopolskis, Egle Spokaite and Sarunas Zenkevicius.

    Kaleidoscope Pictures, which is filming in Lithuania for the first time, is working with local production company Baltic Film Services.

    Filming takes place in various locations around the Old Town of Vilnius and in Rumsiskes.

    Shooting started on 19 February 2016 in Vilnius and will be completed on 27 February. The television broadcast is planned for 2016 in the USA.
