KVIFF: FINAL PRESS RELEASE (JULY 7TH, 2012)

    The 47th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, a non-specialized festival with four competition categories, took place from June 29st to July 7th this year. It was organized by Film Servis Fesival Karlovy Vary, a.s., with Jiří Bartoška as president of the festival and Karel Och as artistic director. The 48th Karlovy Vary IFF will be held from June 28th to July 6th, 2013.

    On July 7th 2012, the festival's juries presented awards for the best films at the closing ceremony of the
    47th Karlovy Vary IFF.

    Statistics of the 47th Karlovy Vary IFF 2012

    The 47th Karlovy Vary IFF 2012 was attended by 11 471 accredited visitors. Of that number 9 596 had Festival Passes, 405 were filmmakers, 803 film professionals, and 667 journalists.

    121 071 tickets were sold for 410 film screenings. A total of 218 films were shown: 162 feature films
    (151 full-length and 11 short) and 56 documentary films (33 full-length and 23 short). 23 films received their world premiere, while 35 had their international premiere and 8 their European premiere. 56 of the films screened were debuts. 180 screenings were personally presented by delegations of filmmakers.
    99 Press & Industry Screenings were held.

    Film Industry at the 47th Karlovy Vary IFF 2012

    803 film buyers, sellers, distributors, film festival programmers, representatives of film institutions, and other industry professionals were accredited for the 47th Karlovy Vary IFF. 387 accredited film professionals came to the festival from abroad. 131 film buyers and distributors and 120 festival programmers chose from the new films and Works in Progress.

    In co-operation with Cinando.com, the Karlovy Vary IFF this year is again offering buyers, distributors and other users of Cinando.com the opportunity to watch the films from Official Selection - Competition and East of the West - Films in Competition. The screening room went live on July 5th, 2012.
