The program of the festival consists of the latest, acclaimed both by critics and
audiences titles from the international festival circuit, most of which is
presented in Poland for the first time. There are also few films from previous
years, which did not go into theatrical distribution in Poland, but became a part
of the canon of world's most important LGBT production.
The program will feature, among others, such titles as "Cloudburst", comedy
unknown in Poland, with a fantastic performance of Olympia Dukakis - the
winner of an Oscar and a Golden Globe, as well as "Cruising", film released for
distribution in 1980s, starring Al Pacino in the lead role. The film was plagued
with controversy, and its director was forced to cut 40 minutes of sexually
explicit material. Those 40 minutes have never been screened publicly.
Attempts to reimagine what was in those lost scenes were undertaken by
filmmakers James Franco and Travis Mathews. That is how the film "Interior.
Leather. Bar" was created, which already caused quite a stir at this year's
Sundance and Berlin film festivals. We will also present "I do", one of the most
desired movie by the organizers of LGBT festivals around the world. In addition
to "Interior. Leather Bar." our Documentary Block will also include an Academy
Award nominee for Best Documentary "How to survive the plague".
The program of this year's edition of the festival has been enhanced with the
Short Film Block, consisting of suggestions and submissions made by viewers.

LGBT Film Festival is not only about movies, but also a number of events: dj
set of Kamp! (Wroclaw), exhibition of the illustrator Marta Konarzewska
(Warsaw), "stand-up show" by Przemysław Pilarski (Warsaw) and many others.
We also have some attractive surprises awaiting our audiences directly before
projections.

PREVIOUS EDITIONS:
1. LGBT Film Festival - 2010
In July 2010, Warsaw Kinoteka Film Theatre hosted the first LGBT Film Festival. Our
event was one of the main projects on the EuroPride 2010 map, that was then held in
Warsaw.
It was the first major initiative in Poland that would present films, which in a clear
and legible way treat an issues of sexual diversity.
For 17 days of the Festival we have presented a wide variety of rarely shown global
LGBT cinema. We have screened the most important films dedicated to this subject
and productions from such a distant countries as the Philippines, Guinea, Argentina or
Uruguay. With a support of the Instituto Cervantes we have hosted Luis Miguel
Albaladejo, director of the film "Cachorro" and Bob Christie, Morris Chapdelaine and
Ken Coolen, the creators of "Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride".
2. LGBT Film Festival - 2011
The second edition of the festival was held under the auspices of the City of Warsaw
as part of the project “Warsaw - European Capital of Culture 2016”. During the
festival we have presented 11 LGBT-themed movies shown previously on the biggest
international film festivals. We’ve presented all the latest global productions. Some
titles such as "Undertow (Contracorriente)", "Three Veils", "The people I've slept with"
had their European premieres on our festival. In addition to the movies we’ve offered
our audience a number of events including exhibitions, meetings with filmmakers
such as Shamim Sarif and Hanan Kattan - creators of the movies "I can’t think
straight" and "The World Unseen". We’ve also hosted the lead actress from the film
"Three Veils" - Angel Zahra. At the end of the festival, Czeslaw Mozil gave a concert
especially for our audience. The “Best Film” award went to the production chosen by
an audience vote.
The Warsaw's edition of the Festival was accompanied by "LGBT Film Review" in other
Polish cities: Poznan, Lodz, Katowice and Gdansk.
3. LGBT Film Festival - 2012
The third edition of the Festival similarly to the previous years was present in 5 cities
(Warsaw, Poznań, Łódź, Gdańsk, Katowice).
During the Festival week (13-19 April) we have presented films from the largest
international festivals of 2012, including "Beauty" (Skoonheid), "Three" (Drei) and
“Man at Bath”. We’ve also returned to few titles from the previous years - films, that
have became a part of the canon of the most important LGBT productions, including
"Prayers for Bobby", "Wild Nights" (Les Nuits Fauves). We’ve presented never shown
before short films directed by Bavo Defurne. Our repertoire also included two Polish
productions: "Coming out in Poland" and "Trans – Action".
Alongside movies, the program of our Festival included theatrical plays that have
been performed in the Dramatyczny Theatre. Nowy Theatre from Cracow presented
the show "Lubiewo" based on the famous novel by Michael Witkowski. The other
project was based on the readings of Falk Richter's “Verletzte Jugen”, directed by
Tomasz Gawron, starring Matylda Damięcka, Mateusz Damięcki, Bartosz Gelner (“Sala
Samobójców - Suicide Room”) with live music performed by the band "Hatifnats".
