EMERGING PRODUCERS 2014: WE KEEP TRACK OF THEIR LATEST SUCCESSES!

The second edition of the Emerging Producers programme was attended by nineteen producers from Europe, plus one representative from Argentina.

This promotional and educational project facilitated a meeting of talented documentary film producers and brought them together with other film professionals. What are the latest news and successes of these up and coming European producers? Here are some of them: Karim Aitouna from France presented his documentary A Place under the Sun at the largest documentary film festival IDFA. The documentary Lacrau by the Portuguese producer Joana Gusmão was screened at the 28th Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata in Argentina and at the Austrian Viennale.Cantos, a documentary by the Swiss producer Aline Schmid, was presented at the 37th São Paulo International Film Festival in the section of New Filmmaker Competition.

Make a unique Christmas gift! We offer a good harvest of jumpers, T-shirts and bags from the graphic workshop of Juraj Horváth produced this year in association with the DOBRO project (a joint project of ZOOT.cz and the OP Tiger printing house). You can also choose one of the publications on documentary film, for instance the recently awarded book by David Čeněk dedicated to Chris Marker. Our festival badge or magnet can also make a nice gift, and each handyperson and storekeeper will be pleased to find a duct tape with our good harvest graphic design.

SUCCESSFUL JOURNEY OF FILMS PRESENTED AT THIS YEAR’S JIHLAVA

Many of the films premiered at the 17th Jihlava IDFF started their successful journey to festivals worldwide. DOK Leipzig, a festival with fifty years of tradition, presented Pavel Štingl’s documentary Eugenic Minds or Robert Kirchhoff‘s Normalization, a documentary which won two awards at this festival.

The Slovak Film Institute opens its store of local documentary treasures! For the first time in history, it will introduce online four leading Slovak filmmakers Dušan Hanák, Martin Slivka, Dežo Ursiny and Martin Šulík who have captured wild Slovak nature, the harsh life in deserted mountains, the beauty of almost forgotten folk traditions and powerful existential themes in their documentary film works.
A selection of over twenty-six short and feature-length films are available for free from December 29, 2013 at DAFilms.com.
