Jubilee edition of REGIOFUN

    The fifth edition of the festival is going to draw to Katowice the producers from all over the world. They will track new film industry tendencies, discuss regional film funds and explore locations of Silesia.

    The IFFP REGIOFUN, the only festival in Europe dedicated to film producers, sets off on 7 October in Katowice. The program includes previews of the films supported by film funds, a film industry conference, “Young Producer” workshops, Look For Fund – the meetings of producers with representatives of regional film funds. 77 films await the audience, 45 of which are the premiere screenings in Poland. 8 films will be presented in the feature film contest. The jury consists of: Magdalena Piekorz, Daniel Burlac and Piotr Dzięcioł. Thirteen short and medium-length films will be presented in two blocks during the contest, the organizers have invited Maggie Ellis, Svein Andersen and Jack Borcuch to join the jury. The producers that will be pointed out by the jury will receive financial awards, and the audience will honour a film of their choosing.

    Apart from the contest blocks and the regional funds part, the program includes also the classics, the films of the Cannes Festival and the screenings dedicated to the youngest audience. Each day of the festival the audience will meet the invited guests in the “Garden of the Stars”. The novelty to this year’s edition is the “Border Gate Award” which goes to Peter Aalbaeck Jensen. The festival will be opened by the film awarded in Gdynia - “Gods” by Łukasz Pawlikowski tells a story of Zbigniew Religa, the cardio surgeon form Zabrze. There will be also two premiere screenings by the Silesia Film Fund – Magdalena Piekorz’s “Close ups” and Paweł Wysoczański’s “Jurek”. At the end of the festival the audience will have the opportunity to move to the theatre to watch the “Cinema!”, a performance directed by Beppe Navello.
