The second edition of the Ponta Lopud Festival takes place on 22-27 June 2022 on a beautiful island of Lopud, nearby Dubrovnik, in Croatia. The Festival is a creative hub that organizes invite-only masterclasses and lectures by the greatest filmmakers working today, specifically tailored for directors, actors and cinematographers of the new generation in Southeast Europe. In a relaxing and friendly island atmosphere, the Festival creates opportunities for regional rising stars to meet with top film professionals and talk about film, visual art and the art of living that has been practiced in the region for centuries. The founders of the Ponta Lopud Festival are Miro Purivatra, former director and founder of the Sarajevo Film Festival and Tilda Grossel Bogdanovic from island Lopud.
This year’s edition of the Festival brings top quality acting and directing masterclasses that will be held by multiple Oscar-winning masters Frances McDormand and Joel Coen who will share their rich professional experience with participants and reconstruct some of their greatest films.

In addition to Frances McDormand and Joel Coen’s masterclasses, the Festival will organize special lectures held by award-winning director Juho Kuosmanen, producer Peter Spears and talent agent Brian Swardstrom. Additional value of this year’s edition of the Festival will be conversations between masters and participants moderated by special guests, directors Pawel Pawlikowski, Michel Franco, Lili Horvat, Danis Tanovic and Ognjen Glavonic.
For wider audience, the Festival will organize film screenings under the stars at unique the Renaissance Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of the Cave – LOPUD 1483 and at Lafodia Hotel & Resort sandy beach every evening. Some of the greatest films made by this year’s masters and lecturers will be screened, such as Fargo, Nomadland and Compartment No. 6. A special Grammy-winning music guest of the Festival Antonio Sanchez will perform his award-winning score live on drums to a special screening of the film Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) by Alejandro González Iñárritu.
