    What's Slovak in Tallinn?

Today, we bring you the news about the Slovak representation at the 29th edition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), one of the most important film events in Northern Europe, taking place from November 7 to 23, 2025.

The feature film The Bugaboo (dirs. Tomáš Pavlíček, Kateřina Karhánková), a production between Czechia and Slovakia (SK prod. Punkchart films), will have its world premiere at the 25th edition of Just Film, children’s and youth festival and the largest sub-festival of PÖFF. The spooky family comedy The Bugaboo is included in the competition section dedicated to young audiences.

The short film Nights and Days by Daniela Sláviková has been selected for the programme of the PÖFF Shorts sub-festival, where it competes in the section dedicated to live-action films by new talents. The surreal comedy about the relationship between two sisters will be presented in its Baltic premiere.

The feature film Father – which, since its Venice world premiere, has been sold to distributors in several territories, remains among the most-watched films in Slovak cinemas, and continues to collect festival screenings and awards – is included in the Best of Festivals section, showcasing films currently resonating on the international festival circuit.

Finally, as part of the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event (November 14 – 21, 2025), the drama The Hour between Dog and Wolf (SK co-prod. guča films), currently in pre-production, will be presented in the Script Pool programme. Script Pool offers producers, directors and screenwriters of five selected projects a multi-day series of workshops designed to prepare them for a final presentation before film industry professionals, including distributors, sales agents, and potential co-production partners.
