Croatian Actress Chosen for Shooting Stars

    Croatian actress Marija Škaričić (Mother of Asphalt, 2010) has been selected as one of the 2011 Shooting Stars, European Film Promotion (www.efp-online.com) announced on 15 December 2010.

    She was chosen for her "impressive technical command manages to encompass a wide range of emotions, from the fragile to the intense. A classically versatile actress, capable of both elegance and edginess," the jury said in a statement.

    The ten actors and actresses were selected from a list of 25 candidates nominated by the EFP member organizations of their respective countries.The other nine Shooting Stars are:

    Albania: Nik Xhelilaj (The Albanian)

    Denmark: Pilou Asbæk (R)

    Germany: Alexander Fehling (Goethe!)

    Ireland: Domhnall Gleeson (True Grit)

    F. Y. Rep. of Macedonia: Natasha Petrovic (As If I Am Not There)

    Spain: Clara Lago (Bunker)

    Sweden: Alicia Vikander (Pure)

    The Netherlands: Sylvia Hoeks (Tirza)

    United Kingdom: Andrea Riseborough (Brighton Rock)

    The ten will be presented 12-14 February 2011 at the Berlinale.
