Estonia's Eesti Telekom announced it has nearly doubled cable TV households in the past year.

Growth was spurred by expanded selections of films, remote video rental services, and TV programs, according to the company's first quarter reports.

Cable households rose from 32,400 in first quarter 2007 to 63,200 in first quarter 2008. Broadband services showed the strongest growth, with revenues up 9.5% and EBITDA up 15.7% from one year earlier. Yearly revenues reached €8.8 million.

Shares in Eesti Telekom rose 2.09% in one day, to €7.80, following the announcement.
