Filmrights goes to the Hungarian National Film Archive

By Gyorgy Karpati
The distribution rights to Hungarian movies made before 1987 has been granted to the Hungarian National Film Archive (www.filmintezet.hu), following a four-year long process.

The 2004 Hungarian Film Law stated that film distribution rights were to go automatically to the Hungarian National Film Archive but the move had been delayed.

The decision to act upon the law was made on October 11. Distribution rights were removed from the state owned (and previously monopoly distributor) Mokep-Pannonia Zrt. (www.mokep.hu) and from the Dialog Filmstudio and given to the state owned Film Archive.
