Vilnius fest host eight Lithuanian premieres

By Auksė Kancerevičiūtė

The 15th Vilnius International Film Festival Kino pavasaris (March18 - April 2, 2010) will host eight Lithuanian film premieres, including the debut from Marius Ivaškevičius, Our father (Tėve mūsų).

Ivaškevičius is currently the most popular playwright in Lithuania. Ivaškevičius directed the documentary films Einu (I am Going, 1999), Punsko novelės (Punsk Short Stories, 2000), Dviese ant tilto (Double on the Bridge, 2004) and a short film Mano tėvas (My Father, 2007).

In Our Father it seems that a mother and her children are going about their routine life in an ordinary though poor flat, waiting for the father to come back. Soon he comes, brings food and leaves shortly after, since this is not an ordinary flat. It is a basement, from which the mother and children will never be able to escape.
