FNE IDF Doc Bloc: DoK Incubator Deadline for Submissions March 3

By

Only a few days are left to apply for the Dok Incubator workshop. The final deadline is March 3 for participants to apply for this unique documentary rough-cut workshop is calling for participants, willing to work hard – and fly high.

Dok IncubatorHas the age-old documentary been brought to its knees? To challenge broadcasters to invest big amounts of money into creative productions – like they did in the previous decades – is, despite the good will of some, like beating a dead horse. But actually, there is a significant audience ready to come to the cinema or to a festival and to watch, support, and promote documentaries; but just the outstanding, special, excellent ones. So what is the difference between a good and an excellent documentary?

Time, money, and a lot of energy.

DOK.Incubator supports experienced documentary professionals and exceptional young talents with projects in the rough-cut stage who are ready to work hard – and fly high.

The DEADLINE for submissions is March 3!

    TIME:

For half a year the workshop inspires teams of eight selected films from all over Europe, each represented by three team members (producer, director, editor). They will be working vigorously in the editing room, developing a clever, tailor-made distribution plan and marketing strategy, as well as meeting with leading international distributors. The workshop is divided into three week-long residential sessions:

    • May 21st - 28th, Krakow /PL/ = ROUGH CUT

    • August 24 - 31, Bratislava /SK/ or Prague /CZ/ (TBA) = FINE CUT

    • October 25 - 30, Leipzig /DE/ = PRESENTATION

    Dok IncubatorENERGY:

More than 20 experienced lecturers: producers, editors of award-winning films and creative PR and marketing experts will be giving individual mentoring. Internationally recognized tutors aim to inspire the participants to find their own way how to best tell their story – and how to sell the film afterwards.

The participating group is small, family like. Both, very dedicated tutors and participants, strongly support each other and strongly work together. Your feedback, advice, and help is all welcome just as well as your doubts, difficulties and questions are. DOK.Incubator invites you to embark on an intensive, challenging and at the same time fulfilling journey with your film.

    MONEY

Participation in the workshop requires a great deal of effort from each member of the team. It is necessary to be united, to be ready for new, challenging tasks. In the end, three participant projects, which make the biggest progress, win a DOK.Incubator AWARD (Audio and video postproduction in value of € 1.500).

Dok IncubatorThe total costs for participation of each team in the workshop amount to € 20.000. If possible, these costs should be covered by the participants´ local film fund.
