FNE at Cottbus Film Festival 2016: Anna’s Life

    COTTBUS: Georgian director Nino Basilia’s debut feature Anna’s Life (previously under the working title The Naked) is one of a pair of Georgian films selected for the main competition of the 26th Cottbus Film Festival, which runs through 13 November 2016.

    The film, which had a rapid 27 day shoot, is a social drama about a single mother desperately trying to get to the U.S. with her autistic child. The main actors are Eka Demetradze, Lika Okroshidze, Kote Janjgava and Lasha Murjikneli. The film premiered at Sweden’s Goteborg Film Festival and was picked up by Paris based distributor New Morning Films. It was awarded at the Festival “Contruir Cine” in Argentina and the Cinema Jove Valencia IFF.

    Zhana Karine Sardlishvili produced through Studio 99 with the support of the Georgian National Film Center (GNFC). The budget is 200,000 EUR with 100,000 EUR coming from the GNFC and 50,000 EUR provided by the producer.
