Venice short competition features Central European films

    Films from Slovenia, Hungary, and Estonia will compete in the short film section at the Venice film festival August 27-September 6.

    Slovenia is represented by Igor Sterk's Every Breath You Take, Hungary by Karchi Perlmann's The Dinner, and Estonia by Tanel Toom's The Second Coming.

    Slovenia and Estonia are also featured in the Venice Days selection, along with films from Romania, Poland, and the Czech Republic. They include:

    Landscape No. 2 (Slovenia/Serbia) directed by Vinko Meoderndorfer

    The Visitor (Finland/UK/Germany/Estonia) directed by Jukka-Pekka Valkeapaa

    Hooked (Romania) directed by Adrian Sitaru

    Scratch (Poland) directed by Michal Rosa

    A Country Teacher (Czech Republic) directed by Bohodan Slama
