The Womb wins ScripTeast competition

    Hungary's Benedek Fliegauf has won the second ScripTeast scriptwriting competition for his script The Womb, an ethical drama about human cloning. The announcement was made at the Cannes film festival.

    Mitko Panov and Wladyslaw of Poland received a Special Menton for their script The Witness, a thriller set in former Yugoslavia.

    Known as the Krzysztof Kieslowski TVP Award for Best Eastern and Central European Script, the competition was between 16 finalists with 12 scripts representing 8 countries. The writers had spent the previous year working with a team of mentors and tutors.

    ScripTeast is organized by the Independent Film Foundation, with the support of the Media Programme of the European Community, Polish Film Institute, TVP (Polish Television ) and Apple Film Production, in co-operation with the European Film Academy, ACE - Atelier du Cinema Europeen, Producers Network, e-Talenta, FadeIn (Central European Pitch Forum), and film festivals in Berlin, Cannes and Karlovy Vary.
