Crulic – The Path to Beyond Wins UCIN Grand Prix

    {mosimage}BUCHAREST: The Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN) gave its Grand Prix and its trophy for Best Romanian Film of 2011 to Crulic - The Path to Beyond.

    It awarded Adrian Sitaru's Best Intentions/Din dragoste, cu cele mai bune intenţii with a Special Prize and Constantin Popescu's Principles of Life/Principii de viaţă for Best Director.

    {mosimage}Bogdan George Apetri received Opera Prima award for Outbound/Periferic (www.periferic.ro). Ana Ularu (Outbound/Periferic) was awarded Best Leading Actress, while Best Leading Actor award was given ex-aequo to Vlad Ivanov (Principles of Life/Principii de viaţă) and Bogdan Dumitrache (Best Intentions/Din dragoste, cu cele mai bune intenţii).

    Sinisa Dragin's If the Seed Don't Die/Dacă bobul nu moare was awarded for script (Sinisa Dragin), art direction (Dan Toader) and best actress in a supporting role (Simona Stoicescu).

    {mosimage}Dan Piţa's Something Good in Life/Ceva bun de la viaţă was awarded for best camera (Dan Alexandru), Outbound/Periferic was awarded for best editing (Eugen Kelemen), and Best Intentions/Din dragoste, cu cele mai bune intenţii for actor in a supporting role - Marian Râlea. Corneliu Ulici and Dragoş Dumitru received the Most Promising Actor award for Something Good in Life/Ceva bun de la viaţă.

    Alex Maftei's Hello! How Are You?/Bună! Ce faci? (www.bunacefaci.ro) was awarded for best original music - Dragoş Alexandru, while Red Gloves/Mănuşi roşii was awarded for best costumes (Svetlana Mihăilescu). Crulic - The Path to Beyond/Crulic - Drumul spre dincolo (www.crulic.ro) also received a Special Mention for the animators Dan Panaitescu, Raluca Popa, Dragos Ştefan. A Special Mention was given to Gabriel Huian, the young actor from Principles of Life/Principii de viaţă. Radu Gabrea's Şi s-au dus ca vântul was awarded best long documentary and Jon Gostin's Fericita întristare was awarded best TV film.

    Cristi Puiu withdrew his film Aurora from consideration. The Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN) is the most representative body of the Romanian cinema professionals, but the prizes are decided by juries.
