Aurora Takes Top Gopo Awards

    {mosimage}BUCHAREST: Aurora won three Gopo Awards including Best Romanian film in 2011, best director for Cristi Puiu and best script, despite the fact that the producer Anca Puiu from production company Mandragora withdrew the film from the nomination process.

    Aurora is a production of Mandragora (www.mandragora.ro), in co-production with France's Société Parisienne de Production (www.thecopro.de), the Swiss company Bord Cadre Films (www.bordcadrefilms.com), and Germany's Essential Filmproduktion GmbH. The film had its world premiere in Cannes 2010 and hit Romanian screens in 2011.

    {mosimage}Bogdan George Apetri's Periferic/Outbound (www.periferic.ro), a Romanian-Austrian co-production between Saga Film (www.sagafilm.ro) and Aichholzer Filmproduktion (www.aifilm.at) won the award for leading actress Ana Ularu, best supporting actress Ioana Flora, best debut film, best cinematography (Marius Panduru) and best editing (Eugen Kelemen).

    Adrian Sitaru's Din dragoste, cu cele mai bune intenţii/Best Intentions produced by HiFilm (www.hifilm.ro) in co-production with Cor Leonis Films (www.corleonisfilms.hu) from Hungary and 4Proof Film (www.4prooffilm.ro) from Romania, won awards for leading actor Bogdan Dumitrache, and supporting actor Adrian Titieni. Anca Damian's Crulic - Drumul spre dincolo/Crulic - The Way to Beyond (www.crulic.ro), produced by Romania's Aparte Film (www.apartefilm.net), in co-production with the Polish Fundacja im. Ferdynanda Magellana (www.fmagellan.pl), was awarded for original music (Piotr Dziubek), and sound Piotr Witkowski and Sebastian Wlodarczyk).

    Bună! Ce faci?/Hello! How Are You? (www.bunacefaci.ro) was awarded for costume design, make-up and hair styling, and the prize of the Romanian Society of Cinematographers (RSC) for the DOP Radu Aldea. Sinisa Dragin's Dacă bobul nu moare/If the Seed Doesn't Die (www.iftheseeddoesntdie.ro), a co-production between the Romania's Mrakonia Film and the Austria's Wega Film (www.wega-film.at), was awarded for best art direction.

    The prizes were decided by the votes of 300 active professionals in the Romanian film industry. The 6th Gopo Gala was organised by the Romanian Film Promotion (www.romfilmpromotion.ro) with the support of Babel Communications (www.babel.ro) and the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro).
