BUCHAREST: Writer/director/producer Cătălin Mitulescu, will question the situation of young women using men as vehicles for receiving nice things in life in Heidi, a feature he plans to shoot in spring 2015.

"I will focus on girls who are living at men's expenses very close to prostitution, because I find very appealing this hunger for new experiences and things, from having an expensive car and expensive clothes to a weekend in Dubai, and to consume all these things very rapidly. It's like a hunger which is re-fueling from itself," Mitulescu told FNE.

He will produce together with Marcian Lazăr through Strada Film. Negotiations with French coproducers are underway, as the project participated at Paris Coproduction Village in June 2014. It already has a production grant of 467,860 EUR/2,089,000 RON received from the Romanian Film Center in April 2014. The budget is approximately 1 m EUR, Mitulescu told FNE.

Strada Film is also planning two debut features, The Lesson/Lecţia by Radu Dragomir and The Trip We Took with Dad, a Romanian-German coproduction by Anca Miruna Lăzărescu with filmallee as the German partner. The company usually works with young directors helping them to do their first features. This was the case for the awarded If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle/Eu când vreau să fluier, fluier by Florin Şerban, awarded Jury Grand Prix Silver Bear and Alfred Bauer Prize in Berlin in 2010.
