CLUJ-NAPOCA: Răzvan Georgescu’s long documentary Trading Germans / Paşaport de Germania investigates the biggest human trade scandal of the 20th century, when the Romanian communist regime systematically sold German minority citizens to Germany. The film will screen in the Romanian Days competition of Transilvania IFF (29 May-7 June 2015).

A Romanian/German coproduction between Hi Film Production , Februar Film, and HBO Romania, Trading Germans was well-received in Romania when it premiered on HBO in November 2014, not only because it was the first documentary dealing with this topic but also due to its wit and craft.

The film reveals the circumstances whereby 245,000 Germans from Romania were sold to Germany between 1968 and 1989, interviewing key people involved in the trade and thus drawing an intuitive portrait of a minority which vanished across the decades. Alexandru Solomon is the DoP.

The film was awarded best documentary in 2014 at the Filmmakers Union (UCIN) awards, and was nominated in the long documentary category and for editing and sound at the Gopo awards.
