Romanian film channel plans March launch

    Autentic Cinema TV received a green light from the National Audiovisual Council of Romania (www.cna.ro) on December 15, and prepares to air an all-Romanian programme of movies (240 anually) 24/7, starting March 2010.

    In the first 12 months, Autentic Cinema TV will air no advertisements and will be available by satellite only through the Dolce platform of Romtelecom company (www.romtelecom.ro). It will later expand onto the IPTV service of Romtelecom.

    The project is an innitiative of S.C. Really Good Ideas Media SRL Bucharest, a company founded in 2009 whose General Manager is Adrian Iacobini. Filmmaker Radu Gabrea is program adviser. There will be retrospectives of Romanian authors and actors, special days, children days, classic movies days. The program will balance features with shorts, documentaries, making-ofs and talk-shows. The target audience is 18 to 49 years. Iacobini said the channel plans also to restore the films it airs, especially the documentaries from Sahia, the Romanian documentaries studio founded in the 1950's. The channel might also air European movies, theatre plays, opera and ballet shows in future.

    Autentic Cinema TV has an investment of 80,000 euro and a team of 12 people. According to Mediafax news agency, the members of the National Audiovisual Council of Romania voted unanimously for the channel and congratulated the team for their initiative.
