Romtelecom Buys Boom TV

By FNE Staff
Romania's Romtelecom has acquired DTH Television Grup at a price of 8 million euro. The purchase, which was finalized in late February, includes the digital satellite station Boom TV.

The telecom company, according to Romanian news agency Actmedia, purchased DTH in insolvency proceedings which began in May 2010.

    Boom TV has 95,000 subscribers.

In other TV news, Actmedia reported that UPC, owned by Liberty Global, lost 93,000 subscribers in its TV, internet, and telephony sectors. The results from both Romtelecom and UPC highlighted the difficulties facing the Romanian telecoms industry in 2010.
