FESTIVALS: Anniversary Screening for Sun in a Net

    BRATISLAVA: Slovakia will commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Sun in a Net with a gala premiere of the digitally restored version of the classic film by Stefan Uher at the Karlovy Vary IFF (29 June - 7 July 2012, www.kviff.com).

    The 1962 film is considered the beginning of the Czechoslovak New Wave and a pioneering achievement. The film was restored by the Slovak Film Institute (www.aic.sk). The screening will take place on 1 July.

    Slovakia is also presenting the world premiere of Made in Ash (aka Town of Ash, www.atelieradoc.sk) by debuting director Iveta Grofova. The film will open the KVIFF East of the West competition section on 30 June.

    Among other Slovak presence will be a project presentation of Becherova Villa as part of the Industry Days platform of films in development.
