FESTIVALS: About My Sister Wins 24th MFFK Febiofest

    BRATISLAVA: Slovak short documentary About My Sister by Barbora Sliepková was awarded best film at the 24th edition of MFFK Febiofest. Special mentions went to Polish films Lockjaw by Kordian Kądziela and Three Conversations on Life by Julia Staniszewska. The festival took place in Bratislava from 2 to 8 March 2017.

    The competition section introduced a selection of 20 fiction, documentary, animated and experimental short films from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Austria.

    The FICC Jury gave its award to the Polish short film Debut directed by Katarzyna Kijek.

    Romanian filmmaker Radu Jude, the director of Scarred Hearts / Inimi cicatrizate (HiFilm Productions), got a Special Award and Agnieszka Holland was at the closing ceremony to present her film Spoor (TOR Film Production), which had its Slovak premiere at the festival. The film won the Sliver Bear at the recent Berlinale Film Festival.
