BUDAPEST: Hungarian director Frigyes Gödrös is in preproduction with a Hungarian-Cuban coproduction based on Cuban magical realist writer Alejo Carpentier's novella Viaje a la Semilla (The Beginning of Things).

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian-Irish co-production Book Smugglers (Smuigléirí Leabhar, Knygnešiai), a creative documentary bydirector Jeremiah Cullinane, is now in postproduction. The film will be completed in both 72 and 52 minute versions.

BUCHAREST: Bogdan Dumitrescu Dreyer (A Cold Place In The Sun and Thalassa, Thalassa ) has postponed shooting on So I Say starring Gérard Depardieu and Harvey Keitel. Filming was originally scheduled to take place 28 August - 9 October 2010. It has been rescheduled for May - June 2011, producer Giuliano Doman told FNE.

BUDAPEST - The Maiden Danced to Death directed by Endre Hules and filmed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond has completed shooting in Budapest, Slovenia, and Montreal.
Borgia begins filming in Czech Republic
Beta Films announced the start of shooting of the 12-part mini-series Borgia in Prague on 4 October 2010. With a budget of 25 million Euros, the production will be the most expensive European mini-series to date.
PRODUCTION: Tigers Ain't Happy Here completes filming
Slovak director Juraj Krasnohorsky finished principal photography on his feature debut Tigers Ain't Happy Here. Shooting started in mid-August after three years of pre-production. The post-production stage will continue after additional funds are raised. Release is planned for spring 2011.

BUCHAREST: Adrian Sitaru (Angling/Pescuit sportiv) who is currently filming his second feature From Love With Best Intentions/Din dragoste, cu cele mai bune intenţii,is developing another feature, Domestic, which received a grant of 230,000 euro from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro). Together with producer, Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan and 4Proof Film (www.4prooffilm.ro), Sitaru plans a 25 day shooting schedule in autumn 2011.

The Hungarian amimated series Ludmilla produced by Inforg Studio (www.inforgstudio.hu) and Solve Art Film (www.solveart.hu) is now in production, with the first episode of the 12-part series already in the post-production phase.

Rising young Lithuanian director Kristina Buožytė is currently working on her second feature film, Vanishing Waves (Aurora). Buožytė‘s first feature, The Collectress, won the Lithuanian national cinema award "Silver Crane" as Best Lithuanian Feature in 2008 and the Best Director Award at the Russian Film Festival Kinoshock (2008) and participated in more than 30 international film festivals.
