VALLETTA: The Malta Film Commission (MFC) has announced a funding call for local film producers, under the auspices of the recently launched Screen Malta, administering a total annual budget of 600,000 EUR for the development, production and distribution of Maltese audiovisual works.

Romania 14-08-2020BUCHAREST: Romania-born Sweden-based film director and visual artist Ștefan Constantinescu started the shooting on his debut feature Man-Dog on 10 August 2020. The film is a Romanian/Bulgarian/Swedish/German coproduction produced by Ada Solomon and Diana Păroiu through microFILM.

SOFA – SCHOOL OF FILM ADVANCEMENT Reveals the Participants of the 8th Edition
Press releases 11-08-2020Nine projects represented by ten participants will take part in the 8th edition of SOFA – School of Film Advancement. This edition will send its participating cultural managers on a busy one-year trip towards a precisely developed project that helps to shape a region’s professional film structure or film community. Along the way, they’ll pass three intense workshops, gatherings at film festivals and several e-learning units to exchange with distinguished international experts. The current edition will kick-start on August 18-28, 2020 with a first workshop being held online.
BUDAPEST: The Hungarian National Film Institute announced the procedures for foreigners in the film industry traveling to Hungary. The guidelines were published on 10 August 2020.
BERLIN: Nine projects represented by ten participants will take part in the 8th edition of SOFA –School of Film Advancement. They include participants from Hungary, Lithuania, and Slovenia.
WARSAW: The Polish/German coproduction Never Gonna Snow Again by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert will be Poland’s candidate for the Oscars, according to the Polish Film Institute.
CLUJ-NAPOCA: Babyteeth, the debut feature by the Australian director Shannon Murphy, was awarded the Transilvania Trophy at the 19th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), which took place entirely outdoors in Cluj-Napoca from 31 July to 9 August 2020. The documentary Acasă, My Home by Radu Ciorniciuc was awarded Best Film in the Romanian Days section.
BUCHAREST: The sixth edition of the Pustnik Screenwriters Residency, which will take place 7–14 September 2020, has selected eight projects from 110 submissions from 52 countries. Pustnik is the first screenwriting workshop to take place in Romania.
