VILNIUS: The Vilnius Short Film Festival has been included by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on its list of film festivals qualifying for Oscar consideration.

TALLINN: Eighteen titles, including 11 world premieres and seven international premieres, will vie in the main competition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), which will be held 8 – 24 November 2024.

LIMASSOL: Tsikitigklon, the Fairy and the Man by Marios Mettis received the First Prize in the National Competition section of the 14th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus, which was held in Limassol from 12 to 18 October 2024. The International Competition was won by Dreams like Paper Boats (Haiti) directed by Samuel Suffren.

Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) reveals the full selection and the jury for the Official Selection Competition 2024. The flagship of the PÖFF programme comprises 18 titles, of which 11 are world premieres and 7 are international premieres. The jury is chaired by acclaimed German director Christoph Hochhäusler.

The International Documentary Film Festival, Astra Film Festival, now in its fourth decade, starts this Sunday in Sibiu with a highly anticipated premiere. The documentary"Tata", by Lina Vdovîi and Radu Ciorniciuc, is already receiving rave reviews. An important cultural event of the autumn season, AFF2024 (October 20-27) brings eight days of premieres, meetings with filmmakers, Q&A sessions, masterclasses, debates, exhibitions, and cine-concerts. Starting Saturday, October 26, a significant selection of films from the festival will be available online across Romania.

BUCHAREST: Seven companies will be showcased through the umbrella A Romanian Showcase of Creative Entertainment at the prestigious MIPCOM Cannes, taking place 21 – 24 October 2024. Meet them at the Palais des Festivals -1, J11.

BERLIN: Nebojša Slijepčević’ Palme d’or winner The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent is among the five titles nominated in the category EUROPEAN SHORT FILM – Prix Vimeo at the European Film Awards 2024. The film is a coproduction between Croatia, France, Bulgaria and Slovenia.

RIGA: The 7-episode Latvian TV drama Mutiny has been acquired by the London-based Canoe Film ahead of its showcase at MIPCOM in Cannes (21 – 24 October 2024). Later, the series will travel to TV Beats Forum (18 – 20 November 2024) within Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event.

TALLINN: Seventeen projects from countries including Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia and Czech Republic have been selected for the three categories of Works in Progress, which will be held within the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event (15 – 22 November 2024).
