KOSICE: A wealth of new TV programmes will compete for the Golden Beggar awards during the 19th International Festival of Local Televisions, held in the Slovak city of Kosice, 11-15 June 2013. With Kosice celebrating being named 2013 European Capital of Culture, this edition promises to be an especially rich event.

Press release of CINEASTES EUROPENS: A delegation of European filmmakers, composed of Lucas Belvaux, Costa Gavras, Daniele Luchetti, Dariusz Jablonski, Radu Mihaileanu, Cristian Mungiu and accompanied by the actress Bérénice Béjo, met with European Commission President José-Manuel Barroso on Tuesday, June 11th in Strasbourg. They told him again the necessity to exclude audiovisual and cinematographic services from the negotiation mandate for the trade agreement between the United States and Europe.

 

BRATISLAVA: Step Into Darkness a Trigon Production film directed by Miloslav Luther, and Seven Ravens , a fairytale based on the Brothers Grimm story and produced by Attack Studio, received the largest grants (380,000 EUR) in the latest round of funding by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund

BUDAPEST: Three films received production support in the latest round of Hungarian grants funding.

PRAGUE: Jarmila Outratová has been appointed to head the Industry Office of the Jihlava IDFF.

WARSAW: Polish filmmakers have come out resoundingly in favour of supporting the cultural exception in the EU-US trade talks. A group of 176 Polish filmmakers have signed a letter supporting the cultural exception which was delivered to the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

PRAGUE: Ten feature films and six short films will compete in the Documentary Films in Competition section at the 48th Karlovy Vary IFF, 28 June – 6 July 2013. 

WARSAW: A delegation of creators, artists, performers and directors members of the coalition of the 6200 creators who have submitted a petition calling on the European Parliament to exclude culture from EU-US trade talks will be in Strasbourg next Tuesday, June 11. The delegation has called an open press conference at 17:00-17:30 at the European Parliament and journalists are invited to attend.
