The Cyprus Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth (MECSY) made great efforts in 2019 to expand the country’s activities in various aspects concerning cinema, including film production, film education and film festivals.

LIMASSOL: The 18th Cyprus Film Days International Festival (3-11 April 2020) is launching the first edition of Dot.on.the.map Industry days (9-11 April 2020). The event includes a coproduction forum together with a training and networking platform that will bring producers, directors and scriptwriters of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea together with international film professionals.

NICOSIA: Dimitris Logothetis already has the green light for his next film Man of War to be filmed in Cyprus in 2020, after shooting Jiu-Jitsu with Nicolas Cage in 2019. Logothetis says he has six more films in perspective and possibly to be shot in Cyprus with stars like Gerard Butler, Bruce Willis and Keanu Reeves, if the Cypriot government honours the incentives certificate issued for Jiu-Jitsu.

NICOSIA: The Cypriot/Greek film The Siege on Liberty Street by Cypriot writer/director Stavros Pamballis took both the Audience Award and the FIPRESCI Prize at the recent 60th Thessaloniki IFF.

LIMASSOL: The 9th International Short Film Festival Competition will take place in Limassol at the Rialto Theatre 12 to 18 October 2019 with a multi-dimensional programme of films from 38 countries.
