The upcoming feature-length creative documentary "Green is the Fire's Tint" has been selected for the Docs-in-Progress Showcase of Docs by the Sea at Cannes Docs 2026.
"Green is the Fire's Tint" is directed and produced by Arya Rothe, Cristina Hanes and Isabella Rinaldi (
NoCut Film Collective). The film is co-produced with Kaleo La Belle (La Belle Film) and edited by Yael Bitton.
Logline: Somi (37), an Indigenous Indian woman, faces eviction from her land due to the opening of an iron mine. A few years ago, Somi was an armed Naxalite-Maoist rebel; now, she’s determined to lead her community in resisting the encroachment and fighting against displacement—this time without her rifle. The film is a follow-up to "
A Rifle and a Bag" (IFF Rotterdam 2020, Special Mention of the Jury, Bright Future Competition).
