The High Sun Scores High in Croatian Cinemas

    ZAGREB: Dalibor Matanić’s The High Sun was the most watched film of the past weekend in Croatian cinemas with admissions of 12,019.

    According to the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the film cashed in 43,187 EUR / 329,691HRK and it is already the third most successful Croatian opening since the restoration of the country’s independence, following Vinko Brešan’s The Priest’s Children produced by Interfilm and Silvije Petranović's The Brave Adventures of a Little Shoemaker produced by Maydi Film & Video.

    The High Sun was produced by Kinorama in coproduction with Slovenia's Gustav film and in association with SEE Film Pro from Serbia. Croatian Audiovisual Centre was supporting. The film was released by 2i Film on 24 September 2015. Prior to that, it had a one week of pre-opening screening, with a limited number of screens in order to comply with the Academy Awards regulations. The film is Croatia’s bid for the Oscars 2016.
