Negativ debut wraps shooting October 6

By Radovan Holub
Last Dichers, a €600,000 film from debuting director Jitka Rudolfova, will wrap its shoot on rural Czech locations October 6.

The film is a produced by Marta Dudakova of Negativ, with co-producers Czech Television and FAMU film school. Last-Ditchers is the director's graduation film project, under the supervision of Czech New Wave director Vera Chytilova. The film was co-written with Irena Hejdova, who wrote the Karlovy Vary competition entry Night Owls for director Michaela Pavlatova.

Rudolfova won awards for her short student documentaries on the making of other Czech films. The film follows the general theme of Pavlatova's film, with six slightly older directionless friends trying to start a life together in the countryside . "The script is based on authentic statements of persons who were willing to talk to me frankly about their life stories," Rudolfova said.

"It is not often that a graduation film gets a feature length format," Dudakova told FNE. "But as the script and subject matter were familiar to me I decided to push the project through not only as a school graduation film but as real feature length co-production with Negativ. This company encourages talented newcomers."
