Third Multiplex to Open in Tallinn

By

TALLINN: Apollo Kino cinema chain opened its third multiplex in Estonia and the second in the capital city of Tallinn. The new multiplex has six screens with 800 seats and is located in a new supermarket opened in the densely populated suburb of Mustamäe.

The new multiplex uses high-end technology, with two halls featuring Barco 4K laser projectors and the rest equipped with 4K digital projection. All the halls also use Dolby Atmos sound system.

The investment was 2.5 m EUR, combined with the technological upgrade of the existing seven-screen multiplex in the Solaris shopping centre in Tallinn. Together with its three-screen midi-plex in the resort town of Pärnu, Apollo now operates over 2,800 seats nationwide.

According to Mauri Dorbek, Apollo’s CEO, the company plans to open ten more screens with 1,500 seat capacity over the next two years in Estonia.  Apollo is betting on a growing market, as Estonia’s box office growth was among Europe’s fastest in 2015 with a record 3.01 m admissions and 2.36 admissions per capita (up from 2.6 m admissions and 1.97 per capita in 2014). The total national box office reached 15.5 m EUR, up from 12.75 m EUR in 2014.
