FESTIVALS: Animated Dreams fest opens in Estonia

    The 11th edition of the Estonian animated film festival, Animated Dreams, opened November 18 and continues through November 22.

    Animated Dreams is a sub festival of the Estonia's Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF, www.poff.ee/anima).

    The core of the festival is an international competition program with 40 animations from the last two years. From Estonia are competing "Crocodile" by Kaspar Jancis and new dolls animation "Oranus" by Mari-Liis Bassovskaja and Jelena Girlini (the pair is also known as Girlin Bassovskaja). In the opening ceremony will screen "Divers in the Rain" by Priit and Olga Pärn and „In the Air" by Martinus Daane Klemet.

    Animations will be adjudged by international jury: Regina Pessoa, animation director from Portugal; Tatia Rosenthal, author of feature length animation "9.99 dollars" and Estonian animation director Hardi Volmer. For the first time a special award is given by the degree students of Estonian Art Academy animation department.

    The Tallinn animation company A Film Estonia (www.afilm.ee) announced it is sponsoring €1000 toward an award to the winner of the festival's grand prix.
