Vildžiūnas Wins Top Lithuanian Awards

    VILNIUS: Kristijonas Vildžiūnas won the best director and best film awards for the Lithuanian-Polish-German coproduction Back To Your Arms (www.kaiapkabinsiutave.lt) at the Lithuanian Film and TV industry's Silver Crane Awards held in Vilnius on 27 May 2011. The director's third full-length feature film led the nominations and also won in eight categories, including best screenplay and best actors.

    The awards were presented by the Lithuanian Film Academy (www.lietuviukinoakademija.lt ), and the awards ceremony was broadcast by Lithuanian National Television ( www.lrt.lt ).

    The nominees were chosen from a field of 46 films: three feature films, six short films, ten documentary films, eight animation films, six TV films and 13 student works.

    The nominees and winners of Silver Crane Awards are selected by 32 cinema professionals who are members the Lithuanian Film Academy.

    The Golden Crane Award to a distinguished filmmaker for lifetime achievements in Lithuanian film making was presented to the actor Regimantas Adomaitis (born 31 January 1937 in Šiauliai). Adomaitis has created more than 50 roles in theatre, more than 60 roles in cinema and has received 6 national awards. He acted in films: Nobody Wanted to Die (Niekas nenorėjo mirti, 1966) directed by Vytautas Žalakevičius, the musical Devil's Bride (Velnio nuotaka, 1974, director Arūnas Žebriūnas), King Lear (1971) directed by Grigori Kozintsev, and Feelings (Jausmai 1966) directed by Almantas Grikevičius and Algirdas Dausa.

    Best actress: Elžbieta Latėnaitė Back To Your Arms

    Best actor: Andrius Bialobžeskis, Back To Your Arms

    Best supporting actress:) Margarita Broich, Back To Your Arms

    Best supporting actor: Giedrius Arbačiauskas, Back To Your Arms

    Mastership nomination: Galius Kličius, Back To Your Arms
