{mosimage}Roman Gutek, Polish distributor, exhibitor, and film festival director, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by Europa Cinemas (www.europa-cinemas.org). He will be awarded the prize on 18 December 2011 in Warsaw. Gutek was particularly singled out for his management of the two screen arthouse Kino Muranow in Warsaw.

In awarding the prize, Europa Cinemas said in a statement, "This award goes to Roman Gutek to recompense the ongoing steadfastness with which he has launched new projects."

Kino Murano, which was established in 1955, was taken over by Gutek in 1994. The cinema previously received the Europa Cinemas Best Programming award in 2004, ten years after joining the Europa Cinemas Network. Gutek's distribution company Gutek Film Ltd (www.gutekfilm.com.pl) was established in 1994 and is now a reference catalogue for arthouse films in Poland. In 2010 Gutek founded the Maly Gutek label, a selection of European animated films for 5-10 year olds. He is also the creator and artistic director of the summer festival New Horizons (www.nowehoryzonty.pl) in Wroclaw, which in ten years has become one of the country's principal festivals. The association that manages the event developed a distribution branch three years ago and now seven of the films selected are released in cinemas and on DVD each year.
